Forming {and breaking} a Habit

I've been thinking about deleting my FB account for a while. At least until I can get myself under control. I know that it's normal to do the whole "FB Stalking" thing...I know so many people who talk about their stalking experiences all the time. But, at what point does it become masochism? Lately, I'm starting to feel like maybe I enjoy the torture of looking up certain people that I should just stay far away from. It only makes me sad, mad, upset or flat out hurts my feelings. It's really not healthy.
I've tried thinking of other alternatives to deleting my facebook account, because let's face it. I'm addicted. I started to research habits. Something becomes a habit when you do it without thinking and without self-control. That's the point I'm at. I find myself on these people's pages without even consciously typing their names into the search bar. I am looking through their pictures and reading their posts before I even have the chance to talk myself out of it.

So, how long exactly do you have to do something for it to become a habit? I have always heard 30 days, but when I googled it, I saw several answers. The most common was that your habit becomes thoughtless after about 66 days. That's a long freakin' time to be doing something so pointless everyday. Sadly enough, I would absolutely believe that I have searched for these stupid people everyday for about that long. Pitiful, I know. Also pathetic.

So, how long does it take to break a habit? The answer that I found to be the most common was 30 days. So...now the dilemma. Do I delete my FB account for at least 30 days?? Or do I try to muster up enough self-control for at least 30 days, so that I can break this God-Forsaken habit?? Who wants to volunteer to be my sponsor? Hi, I'm Ashley and I'm a facebook stalker.

Which would you choose??

SMOKE-FREE IN 90 DAYS!

So, Bowling Green FINALLY passed a smoking ban. I can't tell you how happy I am! There are 2 bars here that are non-smoking and it sure hasn't affected whether they get business or not. They are actually probably MORE busy than the ones who allow smoking. I don't want to go to a restaurant where I have to walk through the smoking section to get to the non-smoking section. It's all so funny, though. So many people have posted on facebook today how happy they are that BG will be smoke free in 90 days! I came across this status earlier by this older gentleman (and yes, he's not THAT old...just 40, but older than me).

"I have decided not to open a new business in bowling green since the city government has decided they can tell business owners how to run their business!"

Okay, knowing him...this is meant to be funny. Needless to say, it striked a chord with a few others and they ALL just had to chime in. Here are a few examples of responses:

" its gonna be so much better......If they need a cigarrette that bad then they can go outside."

"Yes, I agree there but still Government is going way beyond. We aren't in high school! Maybe business owners should have prevented all the smoke and ventilated for a "smoker friendly environment" IDK but Government is too big now so we will add a cigarette policeman too I guess."

Laughing at these people, yet? Cause I am...."a cigarette policeman"? Seriously, lady...

"All this is doing is opening our selves up to more govt control. What will they try to regulate next? That is what we should be thinking about. This is not about smoking!"

"the problem is that most people have a big problem with going outside to smoke...they see THAT as an infringement on thier right to sit on their ass and not give a shit about anyone else. They are the ones saying "well if they don't like it, they can stay home." I am one of the people who suffer greatly due to second hand smoke. If I go to B-Dubs or somewhere like that, I usually have a sinus infection the next day due to the smoke. It really, really bothers me physically."

Still laughing....BUT, this is the BEST and DUMBEST comment, yet. (It could have something to do with the girl who wrote it is "Really dumb. Fo real" in the fine words of Antoine Dodson...and I can't stand her. But, still the DUMBEST one, yet.

" I had to jump in here even though I may offend some of your friends. The last sentence you wrote stated, "This is not about smoking!" Apparently, some people are too wrapped up in their own personal comfort to see the larger picture.... It's about the government dictating to private business owners that pay taxes to support the community. The owners should NOT be forced to make these changes. Period. Personally, I don't drink caffeine. It's a DRUG. The smell of coffee makes me sick most of the time. How would the non-smokers feel about losing their Starbucks rights? Hmmm."

Did I miss something?! Do people that don't like coffee go into Starbucks? Is it possible to be affected by the fumes from coffee? I must have missed that at some point in my life. I myself am SO in favor of this smoking ban. It will make going out to dinner a more pleasant experience and even going into some of the other bars around here. Just sayin' dumb girl, just sayin'.
